Odnoklassniki, or OK.ru, is the second largest social media network in Russia. The site is designed for connections between classmates and old friends; the Russian word "odnoklassniki" means "classmates" in English. The site's headquarters is in Moscow, Russia, and it has other offices in St. Petersburg, Russia and Riga, Latvia.
In addition to its popularity in Russia, Odnoklassniki is popular in former Soviet republics, such as Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Georgia. The site claims to have more than 200 million registered users and 45 million unique visitors each day. It has an Alexa Internet traffic ranking of 62 worldwide and 7 in Russia.
The site was founded on March 4, 2006 by Albert Popkov. Popkov and other founders sold controlling interest in Odnoklassniki to Digital Sky Technologies, which now owns 58 percent of the company.
