PCMag reports the 10 best printers for Mac, including the Brother MFC-J470DW and Epson WorkForce WF-3640. As of 2015, most new printers function with both Windows and Mac platforms. Most printers ship with Mac OS X drivers or are available for download during printer installation.
The Brother MFC-J470DW is the cheapest printer on PCMag's top 10 list, available at Amazon for roughly $90. This all-in-one ink jet printer uses four-ink color cartridges to print standard and legal-size documents. This printer is Wi-Fi enabled for cloud-based printing. PCMag gives the MFC-J470DW a four out of five rating. Also on the top 10 list is the Brother MFC-J4710DW, also with a four out of five rating. This tabloid-size printer features an LCD preview screen and direct printing from cameras via cable connection. The MFC-J4710DW costs roughly $215 at Amazon.com.
The Epson WorkForce WF-3640 is comparable to the smaller Brother model in all-around functionality. The Epson WorkForce is available at Wal-Mart and Amazon for approximately $120. Epson's larger WorkForce Pro WF-5690 is intended for more heavy-duty use with its super-fast print speed, a low running cost and hefty paper capacity. The WorkForce Pro costs roughly $400 and is available directly from Epson.
