Computer users can test their skills by taking self-assessment tests and quizzes through, and Northstar Digital Literacy Standards. These tests can help users get an understanding of their skills in different areas of computer science.

The self-assessment test at, for example, is geared towards helping computer users understand if they have mastered the basics. The Project for Pride in Living offers a test through Northstar intended to help certify that users have mastered basic computer skills. Users can also practice computer mouse, Microsoft Office, and Internet basics on the PPL website, then take tests in these subjects to determine their skill level. Once users earn a score of at least 85 percent correct answers, they can visit a Learning Center to take an official proctored assessment.
