A cross between an American bulldog and a Great Dane is called an American Bull Dane. American Bull Danes have short fur, are loyal, affectionate and love to play. An American Bull Dane is a large- to giant-sized dog.

Both American bulldogs and Great Danes make excellent family dogs and only require a daily long walk for exercise; therefore, the American Bull Dane is likely to have these characteristics as well. Both parent breeds have relatively high rates of hip dysplasia. Breeders of American Bull Danes should test their breeding stock for the condition using either the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals test or the University of Pennsylvania Hip Improvement Program test.
