Paula Deen has one excellent banana bread recipe based on flour, baking soda, butter, yogurt and eggs that contains a bit of orange zest for added interest. She also has one that is very similar that doesn't use the orange zest.

To make Paula Deen's Orange Banana Bread, start by preheating an oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and spraying a 9-by-5 inch pan with nonstick cooking spray. Combine 1 cup each of all-purpose flour and whole wheat flour with 1 cup of sugar and 3/4 cup each of baking soda and salt. Combine 1 1/2 cups of ripe, mashed bananas, 1/4 cup melted butter, 1/3 cup plain yogurt, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and two lightly beaten eggs in another bowl and whisk until smooth. Fold in the flour mixture and add 1 tablespoon of orange zest and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.

Pour the mixture into the pan and bake for about 50 minutes or until a wooden pick comes out clean when inserted in the center. Garnish with banana slices and spread with honey, peanut butter or cream cheese if desired.

To make the second recipe, Paula Deen's Banana Bread, start by combining 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 cup sugar, 2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1 teaspoon each of salt and baking soda. Mix 4 ripe bananas with 1/2 cup butter, blend with the dry ingredients and stir in 1/2 to 1 cup of pecans. Pour into two standard loaf pans and bake in a preheated 350 degree Fahrenheit oven for 40-45 minutes.
