BabyCenter notes that dairy is one of the most well-known sources of calcium and includes cheese, milk and yogurt. Vegetables like collard greens and turnip greens also contain noteworthy amounts of calcium.

Calcium plays a significant role in building up strong bones and teeth in toddlers, according to BabyCenter. It promotes nerve and muscle function, aids in blood clotting and activates enzymes that assist in the conversion of food to energy.
