Jordan Baker is Nick's love interest. She also helps lead character, Jay Gatsby, arrange a meeting with his former love, Daisy Buchanan. Jordan is one of three key female characters in the book. The other characters include Daisy Buchanan and Myrtle Wilson. Jordan and Daisy are long-time friends and part of the wealthy elite in the West Egg community. Myrtle is wife to a local garage owner and mistress to Daisy's husband, Tom. The women show different aspects of female life in the 1920s, the wealthy elite, the sensuous athlete and the dissatisfied housewife.
