There are a few methods used to get scratches out of sunglasses, including silver polish, baking soda, toothpaste, glass etching compound and vehicle wax. Some of these methods also work on scratches in eyeglasses.

Rubbing a scratched lens gently in circular motions with a small amount of non-abrasive toothpaste on a wool cloth is useful to wipe away light scratches. The glass should be cleaned with cool water and then dried. Making a paste of water and baking soda is an alternative way to remove scratches.

Some other ways to remove scratches are to use a dab of brass or silver polish on a cotton ball to gently rub onto the affected glass. An application of vehicle wax can also work for this same purpose. Glass etching compound is useful for plastic glasses because it removes its outer layer; however, this method is not for use on eyeglasses.
