There are at least 294 different types of hats, from the agal to the zucchetto. The agal is a type of wool hat that keeps the headdresses of desert nomads in place, and the zucchetto is a type of skullcap.
Other hats are inspired by trends started in movies, such as the Annie Hall hat of the 1970s. Diane Keaton wore a drooping hat to go with baggy pants, a vest and a man's shirt in the late 1970's movie "Annie Hall."
Another type of hat is the Glengarry bonnet, a blue woolen cap with a crease down the middle. This kind of hat is similar to a type formerly worn by sailors in the U.S. Navy during the 1800s. The Glengarry bonnet originated in Scotland in 1805.
