The case of the 1999 animated home video "Our Friend, Martin" includes Edward Asner as the voice of Mr. Harris, Angela Bassett as the voice of Miles' Mom, Lucas Black as the voice of Randy, Theodore Borders as 12-year-old Martin, and LeVar Burton as 26-year-old Martin. Other cast members include Danny Glover as the train conductor, Whoopi Goldberg as Mrs. Peck, Samuel L. Jackson as Turner, James Earl Jones as Daddy King and Ashley Judd as Mrs. Dale.

Adding to the cast of this educational children's film are actress Susan Sarandon, actor Jaleel White of "Family Matters" fame, former talk-show host and media mogul Oprah Winfrey, actor and writer Richard Kind, and actor John Wesley. "Our Friend, Martin" was written by Dawn Comer, Chris Simmons, Sib Ventress and Deborah Pratt and directed by Robert Brousseau and Vincenzo Trippetti. "Our Friend, Martin" follows the story of Miles, a teenager who learns about the works of Martin Luther King, Jr., during a field trip with his class to a museum. He and his friend Randy then travel into the past, where they meet with Martin Luther King, Jr., during many of his most defining moments.
